In July of this year Ross Taylor was selected by the Indonesian Government as Australia's 'Presidential Friend of Indonesia - 2013'.
In August 2013 Ross joined ten other participants from nine countries, including Russia, Myanmar, East Timor, South Africa and Serbia as Presidential Friends of Indonesia.
As guests of the Indonesian Government, Ross and his colleagues met President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and also several former presidents and vice presidents, the Sultan of Yogyakarta, and vice governor of Jakarta.
The group also had a private discussion with foreign minister Dr Marty Natalegawa on a range of current issues affecting the bi-lateral relationships.
During the week-long program Ross also met with the head of KADIN (Indonesian Chamber of Commerce) where discussions took place regarding the live cattle export trade.
Ross is currently the chairman of the Indonesia Institute (Inc) that is based in WA.
Last year Professor David Hill from Murdoch University was selected to attend the program.
